Asterousia ridge belongs to Crete and can't be anywhere else ..

A dynamic ridge of mountains forces you to pedal more and more ..

We started from Heraklion having climbed Lasithi Plateau we headed to south knowing that there was yet another climb separating us from the coast

The notorious Asterousia climb before the steep drop  to the Lybean sea!

A barren piece of land, only compared to Texas USA, elevates westbound from Ierapetra East towards the world famous Matala to meet the sea.

Mounts of Silence, a hermitage land emerging from the very past.

Villages with population zero one or five inhabitants, small houses hundreds of goats wandering around finishing off every land's effort to grow green.

Reaching the sea is a case on its own having to descend a thousand meters before you gain it back on the return trip.

Pedaling towards cetral Crete was nothing compared to what we had just left behind..

Amari plateau comprises of many relatively small villages built on the east slope of Psiloritis.

Crete at its best, great hospitality, great people, great gorges hundreds of them, great in all respects!
