Ktenias, 1635
Ktenis rising up to 1635 metres above the ferile argolic plain.
Its name derives from "ktenia" that means hair brush... in other words its ridge is like walking on pins and needles made of rock!
After all it is the only way to get to the top before reaching the scrambling section of "louki"...
The mountain is kind of soft on the south east side that all climbing can take place. On the north is like a long spiced piece of cheese with a drop of almost 800 meters and lots of landslides involved.
The hiking trail goes off Tsipiana village (now days named Nestani) soon gaining height before entering the alpine zone after which the ascend is more gentle but the terrain highly demanding!
On the redge as well as from the top the views are stupendous... Argolic gulf, Argolic plain, Aremisio, Mainalon, Farmakas, Ziria and Helmos are just few of the peaks someone visualizes from there!
As for the aftermath, font we all live for that, the local eatery at Nestani will pay off any effort!!!!
Keep ascending....
